San Fruttuoso Incastonato in mezzo agli scogli nell'”area protetta del Monte di Portofino sorge l’abbazia di San Fruttuoso. Raggiungibile solo via mare, oppure attraverso alcuni pittoreschi sentieri da percorrere a piedi. L’abbazia risalente all”XI secolo un’opera davvero incredibile, luogo speciale dal punto di vista naturalistico che abbraccia e custodisce un gioiello dell’ingegno umano, oggi posto sotto la tutela del FAI, il Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano. In questa insenatura che prende il nome dell’omonima Abbazia si rimane abbagliati da un tripudio di colori dettati dalla natura e dal mare color smeraldo. Oltre alla bellissima spiaggia balneabile di questo posto incontaminato, si può visitare l’Abbazia, la Chiesa ed il Museo con i molti reperti storici del luogo. Altra cosa che rende famoso questo luogo di favola e’ la statua del “Cristo degli Abissi”, un monumento per tutti i sommozzatori. La statua di quasi 3 metri fu’ posata il 29 agosto 1954 ad una profondità di 17 metri, le braccia del Cristo sono rivolte in alto a Dio in cielo, sono aperte in segno di pace. Passare una giornata a San Fruttuoso, recandosi con i gozzi a disposizione a vedere il Cristo degli Abissi, pranzare in un ristorante sulla spiaggia, visitare i luoghi della natura e’ davvero un’esperienza meravigliosa e molto soddisfacente.

San Fruttuoso Hidden between the cliffs of Monte di Portofino stands the Abbey of San Fruttuoso. Reachable only by sea or by foot, along some of the most remarkable coastal mountain treks. Located in a unique position, the abbey dates back to the 11th century and is truly an incredible structure. This little oasis with its hidden treasure is a feat of human ingenuity. The abbey itself is now under the protection of FAI, the Italian Environment Fund. In the cove, that takes its name from the abbey, you will be awestruck by the vibrant colours of nature. Especially the dazzling blue waters of the sea. Not only can you enjoy the beautiful, unspoiled bathing beach, but you can also visit the Abbey, the church and the museum. And finally, perhaps the most famous thing that draws people to this place is the sunken statue of the "Christ of the Abyss”. A spectacular monument located beneath the sea. The statue of almost 3 meters is located at a depth of 17 meters. The arms of Christ are turned upwards to God in heaven, they are open as a sign of peace. The statue has been beneath the sea since 29 August 1954. A day in San Fruttuoso will definitely be one well spent. You could take a gozzo boat to see the Christ of the Abyss statue, have lunch in a beachside restaurant or simply enjoy some of natures wonderful attractions.
