Genoa “ La Signora del mare, la Superba “, imponente, grandiosa, ma anche altera e orgogliosa.“ la definì così il Petrarca, affacciata sul Mar Ligure si inerpica ripidamente nei monti retrostanti come un abbraccio naturale regalando così un panorama unico nel suo genere. Sono moltissimi i palazzi, le vie e le piazze che hanno reso celebre Genova: da Palazzo San Giorgio, completamente affrescato, la principale Piazza de Ferrari con la sua fontana di bronzo che si illumina di notte, senza dimenticare il Palazzo ducale uno dei più antichi, oggi sede di importanti mostre ed esibizioni artistico-culturali, il Teatro Carlo Felice noto in tutta l’Italia. La Lanterna di Genova, simbolo eterno di questa incredibile città, con i suoi 77 Mt. è il faro più alto del Mediterraneo ed il secondo in Europa. Chiese Romaniche o Gotiche come la Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, si affiancano ai palazzi di gusto classico e neoclassico, agli edifici con architetture di stile orientale per arrivare poi all’area del Porto Antico, ristrutturata negli anni 80 da Renzo Piano. Tappa fondamentale per visitare:l’Acquario di Genova, secondo come grandezza in Europa, il Bigo e la Biosfera. Un altro monumento di rilevante importanza riportato a nuovo splendore è il Cimitero Monumentale di Staglieno nel quale riposano le spoglie di molti personaggi noti, Giuseppe Mazzini, Fabrizio De Andre’ e la moglie di Oscar Wilde. Oltre alla paternità del Pesto, della Focaccioa Genovese, è dal Capoluogo Ligure, che nasce l’arte culinaria di tutta la Liguria, infatti, fu a Genova che nel 1574 si costituì la prima Corporazione dei Pastai con un proprio statuto. Da qui nascono molti piatti tipici ed unici al mondo.

Genoa, the Ligurian capital, or as it is more fondly known "The Lady of the Sea”, overlooks the Ligurian Sea. The buildings offer a unique blend of ancient and modern architecture, reflecting the city’s long history. The Porto Antico - or old port - was renovated in the 80s by Renzo Piano. This is an essential part of the city where you can find the famous Aquarium of Genoa - the second largest in Europe - as well as the Bigo and the Biosphere. The Lighthouse of Genoa, located in the port, is the eternal symbol of this incredible city. Standing at 77 meters, it is the tallest lighthouse in the Mediterranean and the second tallest in Europe. It is a symbol of the city’s past glory. For over seven centuries, Genoa was the powerful capital of one of the Maritime Republics. The city played a leading role in trade throughout Europe, becoming one of the continent's largest naval powers at the time and was considered to be among the richest cities in the world. Another monument of significant importance restored to new splendour is the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno, where many well-known personalities now lay to rest, including Giuseppe Mazzini, Fabrizio De Andre and the wife of Oscar Wilde. And lastly, the heart of the city, its food. Genoa is the birthplace of world-renowned foods including the most famous Pesto and Focaccia Genovese. Many other typical and unique dishes were created in Genoa. In fact, it was here, in the Ligurian capital, that the culinary art of all Liguria was born. And in 1574, the first Guild of Pasta makers was established with its own statute.
